1. Why? And How?

When playing Helldivers with friends, I wanted a way to see how well I was doing compared to others. The problem is, I have no access to any player data except the limited details shown at the end of each mission which give a very limited view of a player's abilities and is missing lots of information that could be of use from their career history.

The idea was born that I could perform OCR (Optical Character Recognition) of the career data available on our destroyers within the Armory console, store the data and create a ranking/measurement system. As I have been a gamer and programmer for 40+ years I decided to revive an old Half-Life statistics package I used to host for my Counter-Strike server in the last century and modify it to work for HellDivers 2.

This is how HD2Stats was born.

2. How are players tracked? Or, how can I get my career stats on here?

Players are tracked based on the email address used to send in-game screenshot data to hd2.stats@gmail.com. This means you only have one Diver per email address.

Tracked players are responsible for sending new/current Career screenshots to the system for processing.
You cannot (currently) change the email address associated with your account.
You should not send more than one email per day.
Players that are MIA (Missing in Action = no updates in > 28 days) may be hidden or deleted from the system without warning.

3. How do you capture and send screenshots?

Capturing screenshots is simple, so do not over-complicate it.

While on any ship in Helldivers 2, go to the Armory console and access the Career tab.
Capture the two screenshots required (see platform details below).
Email the screenshots to hd2.stats@gmail.com. The email must contain the two screenshots, no more, no less to hd2stats@gmail.com. Two shall be the number thou shalt attach, and the number of the screenshots shall be two. Three shalt thou not attach, neither attach thou one, excepting that thou then proceed to two. Four is right out. Once the number two, being the second number, be reached, then stopest thou from attaching more.

Platform details:

PS5 users (with default PS5 settings):

Without touching anything on the careers tab, press and hold the 'Create' button on your controller for 3 seconds to take a screenshot.
Now that you have the first screenshot, press UP on your DPad once to move to the end of your career stats.
Again press and hold the 'Create' button on your controller for 3 seconds.
Now the tricky part. How do we get the screens from the PS5 to your email? I will let Sony describe the setup.

Without touching anything, press 'PRTSCR' or 'Print Screen'
Save the image somehow (paint?)
Now that you have the first screenshot, go back to Helldivers 2 and press Up once to move to the end of your career stats.
Again press 'PRTSCR' or 'Print Screen'

General screenshot tips and tricks:

Be sure to mute your mic when taking screenshots, or just don't talk. The talking icon that shows up after your name in the screenshot can be incorrecty OCR'd as a bracket ")".
* You can wait for the perfect Diver pose in the screenshots. Roate the diver, wait for whatever animation to trigger and then take your screenshot. Why do this? Your Diver will be shown on your player page in the stats!

4. How are Points calculate?

The points in HD2Stats are calcualted individually based on the career statistics provided to the system in the screenshots. Each item in the stats is multiplied by it's weight and added together to become the total points for the player.

5. How can I set my real name, e-mail address, homepage, etc?

When sending an email with your screenshots attached, you can also use any/all of the following keywords to update the values on the site. You should specify the keyword(s) exactly as shown and provide the values where indicated.

Discord: <value>
Sets your discord ID.
Homepage: <value>
Sets your Home Page.
City: <value>
Sets your City.
State: <value>
Province: <value>
Sets your State or Province.
Country: <value>
Sets your Country and Flag.
Real Name: <value>
Sets your real name.
Public Email: <Yes or No>
Toggles display of your email address.

A sample of the email body/text could look like this:
